Nomination
Worthing Bereavement Care will only accept you for training if your parish priest, pastor or minister puts you forward. He or she can get a nomination form by contacting the Secretary. Telephone 01243 855673 or send a message.
Visitors for Worthing Bereavement Care
A training course took place from September 2005 until April 2006. Of thirty people who started the course, twenty successfully completed it. Seventeen participants were commissioned as visitors for Worthing Bereavement Care by the Bishop of Horsham at our Annual General Meeting on Thursday 13 July 2006 at the Church of St Andrew the Apostle, Worthing.

Two part course
The training course is in two parts:
- Grief Awareness
- Practical Skills
Content of Part One
Part One contains ten weekly sessions. We cover such subjects as:
- Awareness of Death
- Grief and Loss
- Dealing with Sudden Death
- Saying Goodbye
- Accepting Our Own Limitations
- Empowering the Bereaved
- Letting Go
Content of Part Two
Part Two is open only to those participants who have successfully completed Part One. There are three more evening sessions plus two full Saturday sessions (morning and afternoon, with lunch in between)
Dates and times are arranged with participants at the conclusion of Part One.
Charges
No charge is made for participants from our catchment area. For participants from outside our catchment area, a moderate charge will be agreed for those attending the course.
