Training

Nomination

You may be nominated for training by your church, or by some other sponsoring organization. You may, alternatively, nominate yourself. Nomination forms and information about training courses can be obtained by contacting the Secretary. Send a message

Visitors for Worthing Bereavement Care

Participants who successfully complete the course may then go on to be commissioned as visitors for Worthing Bereavement Care.

If you would like to be informed when the next training course will be, please contact the Secretary. Send a message Training courses usually begin in the second half of September.

Two part course

The training course is in two parts:

  1. Grief Awareness
  2. Practical Skills

Content of Part One

Part One contains ten weekly sessions. We cover such subjects as:

  • Awareness of Death
  • Grief and Loss
  • Dealing with Sudden Death
  • Saying Goodbye
  • Accepting Our Own Limitations
  • Empowering the Bereaved
  • Letting Go

Content of Part Two

Part Two is open only to those participants who have successfully completed Part One. There are three more evening sessions plus two full Saturday sessions (morning and afternoon, with lunch in between)

Dates and times are arranged with participants at the conclusion of Part One.

Charges

No charge is made for participants from affiliated churches in our catchment area. Other participants, or their sponsoring organization, will have to pay course fees.
